Sara

Sara learned how to play chess in year 3 at Magill Primary School. She struggled with it at first, but after learned how to play, she enjoyed it ever since. Sara thinks there is nothing quite like a good game of chess, whether it is with your friends or in a competition, because she loves the quietness and intensity in the middle of a game when everyone is thinking hard. Another thing she loves about chess is that you can take it as serious as you want to – some people choose to play competitively, and some people choose to play for fun, and both is great! Sara thinks teaching chess in schools is important because chess helps improve kids’ attention-spans, which will also help them with schoolwork. Another reason she thinks teaching chess in schools is important is because by learning chess at a young age, the students will have a game they can play for life and might lead to playing competitively.
